Immersive liquid cooling solution
Solution Brief
Immersion liquid cooling uses coolant as a heat transfer medium, completely immersing the heat-generating components in the coolant. The heat-generating components directly contact the coolant and perform heat exchange. The system is typically divided into primary and secondary sides. The primary side outdoor cooling system exchanges heat with the coolant through the CDU, while the secondary side cools the IT equipment in the tank using the coolant. In an immersion liquid cooling system, all heat-generating components of the IT equipment are completely immersed in circulating non-conductive coolant, usually fluorinated liquid or synthetic oil, and the heat generated by the equipment is directly transferred to the coolant. The coolant in single-phase immersion liquid cooling usually has a high boiling point, and the coolant will not undergo a phase change after absorbing heat, always remaining in a liquid state.
Suitable for data center construction scenarios with high IT equipment heat flux density, high load, limited scalability of air conditioning systems, high PUE values, and high energy saving and emission reduction requirements; this solution is particularly suitable for energy-saving renovation scenarios where IT equipment has high heat density, leading to local overheating or uneven temperature distribution, and other renovation methods are subject to significant space constraints.
Key Parameters
Liquid-cooled immersion unit, capacity 21U (IT power 20kW), 42U (IT power 40kW)
Applicable Scenarios
Large data centers (with high PUE requirements), communication machine rooms (high power, high density, difficult heat dissipation), edge computing nodes (multi-point collaboration, simple site selection), and liquid-cooled container data centers (rapid deployment, ultra-high density)
Advantageous Features
▪ High degree of prefabrication: Simple system configuration. The key to implementing the solution lies in the performance of the heat exchange CDU and the immersion tank. High factory prefabrication reduces the impact of construction quality on the machine room and shortens the construction cycle.
▪ Low energy consumption: It can meet the needs of ultra-high-power IT equipment scenarios. The single computing power is increased by more than 10 times, and the PUE is close to 1.0, which is lower than the average PUE of traditional air-conditioned data centers, significantly reducing energy consumption.
▪ Low noise: The all-liquid-cooled data center has no fans inside, reducing the largest noise source.
▪ Small footprint: Compared with traditional data center air conditioning systems, it reduces cooling energy consumption by 90% and saves 33% of IT equipment floor space.
▪ High reliability: It is not affected by humidity, vibration, and climate, increasing equipment reliability by 50%. Electronic components immersed in liquid remain unchanged for 20 years.
